Introducing Isaac Gibson
“By recording voice, we have the ability to capture inflections, accents and manners of speech that are so powerful in representing a sense of self that is unique to an individual.“
PhD research student Isaac Gibson at SARC will share and present his project on the use of the voice in creating memories for ‘End of Life’ patients and their families.
Exploring the healing power of the voice:
Isaac will discuss with Tessa Ann how the sound of the voice may be used to support end-of-life hospice patients and the loved ones they leave behind.
This interactive presentation and conversation gives an overview of Isaac’s research project “From My Perspective”.
The project aims to provide end-of-life hospice patients with the opportunity to leave audio-recorded memories for their loved ones in a unique and interesting way.
By sharing this work, we can also consider the memories and stories that we want to leave behind for others, while we have the opportunity to do so.
By recording voice, we have the ability to capture inflections, accents and manners of speech that are so powerful in representing a sense of self that is unique to an individual.
This talk will explore the different ways in which we are able to do this, asking the question, ‘’What’s a memory that you want to leave?’’
Isaac will give you a practical take away, to help you create your own memories.
